A Saab Story...the Aero Fever (Beware !) Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Mon, 22 Oct 2007 21:55:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know this guy, see - someone I really think highly of, and some
while back he was really a truck and tractor kinda guy all the way.
Then gas went up and it was time to get a smaller rig like a car...
A friend talked him into borrowing a C900, and Saab love took over.
He decided pretty soon that Saabs were great, but didn't especially like
those 9000's for assorted reasons.
Later, he'd about used up the C900 and guess what ?
He got a 9000 and realized he really liked how it drove and held the
road...and he's had a 9000 ever since then.
But something awful happened about a week ago - and there's trouble afoot.
He and I traveled together to get Quasi's Aero, and he drove it on the
way back....he drove it alot....and he liked it too....ALOT !
So much so that he now says that if he found one he could afford, he'd
buy it in the blink of an eye.
I made a similar journey in my life from VWs to a 99...C900....9000...
to the Aero - and in my opinion it's a one-way trip.
Don't get me wrong - I adore my '91 9KT - but no matter what else, after
having an Aero (and especially after losing one !) it is my opinion that
anyone who's had one will just ALWAYS want an Aero after having had one.
(I speak from experience honestly acquired - this'll be my 3rd Aero !)
Herein lies the moral of the story:
Beware the Swedish cars to start with; for driving one will change you !
But beware most of all the Aero Fever - for once you have it, the will
to drive one all the time will overwhelm you and perhaps even make you
blind to the virtues of other conveyances....forever !
(I'm off now to gaze at Aero pics....if you'll just excuse me.....)
Best Wishes,
mark
