the paint you got mixed in the can works great, but the problem is the clear coat that comes in a can does not have the UV protection and and as you noticed it is not very hard. the clear degrades very quickly, you will most likely have a problem getting the paint to flow smoothly with a brush, and it might react with your car wax, who knows. you would be better off going back to the auto store and get the same matched paint you got last time, but buy the "normal" clear and hardner and then most auto paint stores sell a arisol sprayer, it will probalby a pint glass jar and a pressurized spray canister, this will spray your clear coat, but it will not do a large area, and you will need several coats since it will be very thin, I would say at least 5-6 coats of clear done this way, then wet sand and buff. I use these when i don't feel like getting out my sprayer, or just for touch ups. some paint stores may not sell just a pint of clear, but some will, it's the clear that is expensive, probably $20 or more for a pint, it's been a while and I never bought a pint.
