Your correct about the durability of the BPC but I doubt if Scan Techs is any better and it my be worse. The advice previously given is correct. If you are running something other than the stock air cleaner and air intake you are risking damage to the BPC. The MBC+A can be OK, not as good as a BPC because you are by-passing the safety that the ECU provides. The MBC+A is easy to install and the directions are good. When you use the MBC+A the only engine protection you leave in place is fuel cut which happens in the neighborhood of 20 psi. You have no protection from bad, dirty, low octane or water in your gas. All these things can produce knock which the ECU senses and would dial back timing and boost to protect the engine. The temptation with the MBC is to crank up the boost, just to see what the performance is. Then once the door is open there is no shutting it and many, many engine deaths have resulted from this temptation. I would advise, if you use the MBC, setting the boost at something less than 12 psi gauge and leaving it there and even then ron 93 gas is required.
I predict we will be hearing about your blown engine somewhere down the line.
