I have run an MBC and it's nice, but you have to be ready to turn the boost down if you get a tank of bad gas (or regular from the premium pump) or if you find yourself out on a very hot day. The BPC is controlled by the computer and if knock is detected, boost is reduced. With an MBC you have to listen for the knock/ping and react accordingly.
It is not easy to control boost with your right foot as the turbo spins up so quickly. Best thing is to be able to turn the boost down before you break something. You'll still never react as fast as the ECU and that assumes you are vigilant enough to act at all. If you have the music cranked up and just drive around with an MBC set to 14-15psi I would expect that one day you'll damage something. If you set it to 10 psi though you'll probably be OK.
The ECU also limits boost when the engine is cold, and most MBC designs also increase spoolup quite a bit so an MBC is going to be harder on your turbo. On short trips I never get full boost with the BPC, as most trips are pretty short that will reduce the amount of wear and tear on the turbo quite a bit. Also with an MBC The boost hit is also more abrupt, that can be troublesome on slick roads.
