Those particular codes are extremely generic in the idea that they tend to be displayed whenever the ECU senses something is not right. Granted, they could mean that your O2 sensor is dying or is slow, but they also show up due to the T5 system adjusting due to another problem, and this in turn is translated as a faulty O2 sensor.

I have had those codes appear when I had a vacuum leak due to a dead PCV check valve. I also had those codes when my DI was dying, along with the code for a faulty CPS, which the '98 does not have (crank position is determined by the ECU versus a sensor).

Also, due to the expense of a DI, don't just replace them as maintainence. They usually last close to 100K miles. After that, you're on borrowed time, and a spare would be nice to have. If ever buying them used, always check the date code and mileage that is on the DI (not necessarily the mileage on the donor car as the DI could have been replaced). The date code is a 4-digit code on the label underneath the red cover that translate to YYWW (YY = Year, and WW = Week of the year).

I also have re-worked my car. I have a BSR Stage 3 set up with full JT 3", K&N drop-in filter, and HyperBoost piston-style BPV. This, along with suspension mods and larger tires, has transformed the CSE into a beast! The car consistently maintains 22 - 24 psi of boost...neck-snapping!
