...that the shop didn't send you away with orders to disassemble the head yourself before they would work on it. I've never had a shop accept an assembled head from me.
How much did they charge you and what work did they do?
I always have the head pressure tested, planed and cleaned, and valve stem seals installed. I never ask for a valve job; I don't think they're generally necessary in Saabs.
If the shop had to do all the disassembly, surely they charged you several hundred dollars, versus the $150 or so I'd expect to pay for the basic job I have done.
Shops generally don't want to mess with all that stuff precisely because they may be exposed to liability if they do something wrong. I'm curious how the situation was allowed to progress this far.
