Here's why I say that

The "official" procedure for swapping throttle bodies is:
1. Using ISAT, wipe out all the computer's settings for the TCS components
2. Remove crapped-out part, be it pedal pot or tb
3. Install flawless new part, whichever it be
4. Using ISAT, obtain "baseline" measurements of the TB and pedal pot. (i.e., determine "zero" positions of both components with throttle closed)
5. Calibrate TCS using ISAT, which runs the engine and electronics through a brief set of tests, including running the gear through a higher rpm calibration procedure.
The reason for all that is because, due to variations in manufacturing, no two TBs or pedal pots are identical. For the computer to be able to operate these parts in unison, it needs to know where the various voltages (I think) are in the "sweep" of the potentiometers in each, and match them together properly.
If these steps are skipped, it's possible to fry a new throttle body, if the computer thinks it's in a different position than it really is. Not to say this WILL happen, but it's been known to. Even absent a fried TB, however, I would be a little worried that the transplant might not work properly without calibration. So you could end up spending $450 or whatever and get no positive results, or get a finicky TCS system.
Odds are, with idle problems, it's your TB, but a scan might point you to something else. At the very least, if you're inclined to gamble on the TB, be sure to get the system calibrated as soon as practical.
