Hi guys.

The first thing I'd check is the actual amount of oil in the car. Get on a nice *level* area. let the car sit for 15 minutes or more, and come back and check the oil level. make sure that you push the dip stick all the way down and turn and lock it, then take it back and out check the oil level. If you have too much oil consider getting an oil change. (did you recently have an oil change done?). There are a couple of ways to remove *some* oil, mostly somewhat messy (remove the oil filter, dump and replace OR get a fluid extractor and suck it out of the dipstick tube - if you are really fast you can just take the drain plug out and put it back... kidding on the one!).

If that passes then let's test the (Saab calls it the "Check Valve") PCV valve. It's a one way vacuum valve to keep the gases from moving freely in both directions. It's orientation is from the Valve Cover to the Throttle body. I like to take a clean piece of vacuum line, remove the check valve, put the clean piece on one end of the check valve and blow, then try the other end. it should only pass air on one direction, and it *has* to pass air as well. there is an arrow or a triangle on the side of the valve denoting direction that the valve will allow flow. make sure it is installed properly, pointing towards the throttle body, this allows the car to capture and burn those gases. If the check valve is blocked or installed backwards the usual symptom is smoking from the tailpipe as the pressure buildup will force oil past the turbo oil seal and out the exhaust pipe.

If you are very confident your oil level is correct and the check valve is functions properly then get a compression test done. It is possible that you have a blown head gasket and you are creating pressure in the crankcase. (have you overheated the car?).

If it turns out that a head gasket job is necessary, it is not terribly difficult to do and the money spent on a know issue rather than dropping in another engine is something to consider. Any one that has done a head gasket on a c900 or og900 should be very capable of doing one on the 9000.
