Thanks for the input. That's a good idea in checking for radial play. I'll do that. I suppose it's possible that the axles in the vehicle have already been replaced with aftermarket, especially since the boots split in such an odd way. I guess I'll just have to assess the condition of the axle assembly upon removal and inspection, and decide what to do then. I have had a lot of good experiences with eEuroparts and if I do purchase new or reman axles I may very well make my purchase with them. My only other consideration is NAPA who also offers new aftermarket assemblies at a reasonable price. IMO, NAPA has always had a good reputation for quality of it's products. I have heard of problems from poeple on this forum in regards to reman or aftermarket axle assemblies from various soarces, so I approach this sitiation with caution.
