FYI,
Just about completed a rebuild on '97 CSE purchased with possible bad turbo. HAH! How 'bout completely shot engine? (once we got into it)And with 76,000 carfaxed miles. Hard to beleive it could happen, but it is what it is. Rebuilt T-25, timing and balance chains, all gaskets, seals, main and rod bearings, rings, temp and oil pressure senders, serp belt and pulleys, etc. etc. Plane head, straighten and turn crank mains.Have approx $2500 in parts so far. Will have at least $700 in labor if my indy treats me REAL nice. (I've been helping)Will have a nice $5500-6000 '97 CSE when done for the wife's work car. Is it worth it? Depends on if we can get another 200,000 with the maintaince it SHOULD have. I paid $2000 to buy the car and transport it here. If I had only paid $500, it wouldn't have been nearly so bad. Sound's like that's what your's is worth. It's a parts car, like mine was. BE WARNED, that it's probably a lot more than just bearings. Don't know if the '95 electronics will match up, but if they do, I'd for sure go that way. I would have if I had an engine of KNOWN condition to exchange. Found a few "low" mileage used ones, but there you go, isn't yours, and mine, "low" miles for a 9K? Decided I'd rather have a known condition engine in the other halfs car.
