from my 1995 aero as a transplant!
Sorry to hear about all the $$$, I guess if you like the car it may be worth it.
Based on your exp jd lincoln, makes me think I should just plan on a COMPLETE engine/trans transplant. Although my engine (HG, timing chain, Mistu TD04 turbo, etc.) is all original w/ 170k, it runs great. My trans was rebuilt at 65k by previous owner, so it has 105k since rebuild, but still seems rock solid.
So, can anyone chime in and say that an older engine CAN be put into a newer, OBDII eequipped car? What sensors stay from original engine, and what can just come in with transplanted engine? I believe the 02 sensors both need to be in place. I'm not sure of the crank position sensor, intake air temp sensor, compatibility from older to the '97 ecu. Also, do the CSE models also come with the larger Mitsubishi TDO4 turbo? Just wondering if the engine/boost control could be a problem, I wouldn't think so, because shouldn't the ECU adapt to whatever boost conditions (regardless of Turbocharger model) that it 'adapts' to over the course of operation?
Not trying to be paranoid, just trying to foresee any OBDI/OBDII interchangeability issues that would come up with this project.
Thanks all
Weston
