While it's a long-shot, one thing you might try first is to remove and reseat the connector to the high-beam/turn signal switch. I was having the same issue with my current '86 (my fourth 9kT, second '86), no high beam. I was in the process of removing the switch, and found the connector wasn't tightly seated. Once I did that, the high-beams have worked fine since.
