Flushing my 89 9000 turbo cooling system - switch over to Mercedes Benz coolant and to replace the thermostat. Was careful in not touching the brittle plastic drain plug (many posting on this weakness). However, did not realize that the upper radiator inlet is also plastic. It crumbled! What is the way to go? A used radiator ($100) may have the same weakness already; a new one ($400+) makes me sick.
Can't believe that Saab used plastic for something that vital. Is my faith in Saab misplaced? I am pissed off to no end at the moment.
