yao, you seem to have lot's of experience with this. I've read your other posts on this matter. I haven't tried to shift into 3rd yet. I set the shifter in fourth gear before I started this job, per either Quasi or Haynes, don't remember which. Somehow, I get the feeling that when I shift to third, it's just going to shift to 3rd. I have the clamp bolt completely out, and the clamp spread a bit. Is it really going to be that easy? No rust to deal with on this car. Before coming home I stopped at our local welding shop. Dan's going to tale a 3" piece of 3/16" square tubing, drill a 1/2" hole thru the center, weld a 1'2" nut on one side then cut out one of the 4 sides of tubing to make it a channel. My thoughts are to use it to push the taper pin out. BUT, I'm for sure gonna try the shift to idea 3rd first. going to be a busy week at real job, so may not get back to the Aero untill next weekend, but will post results as soon as there are some. Thanks!
JD
