This is continued from '86 had an accident' thread

I've looked into this a lot now, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. PLEASE tell me if I'm wrong.

I'm planning, and have started labeling and draining the '86, engine/trans w/ turbo unit. The plan is to lift the entire thing as much as possible, including wiring harness and jettronic system with the false firewall, since the car already was in an accident, the front harness was quite easy..

Then I will do the same, labeling the parts the same way as much as possible, to the '87 NA car, spend a day cleaning the turbo engine/trans, and swapping a few bad parts, as well as cleaning up the normal bad wiring on the harness, and put everything back into the '87 NA car. (turbo engine/trans, radiator/intercooler, wiring harness/jettronic unit, exhaust will be last)

What I'm not sure of is the instrument cluster swap, and am curious as to exactly WHAT is needed to make this vehicle drive.. I've seen the MSD BTM ignition box used, unfortunately I only have a 6A box, don't think that would work, would it?

I've done numerous engine swaps, but not on a front wheel drive car, so the linkage there scares me a bit, but I have a friend that will help out, also the donor car has an issue with the Trans slipping from 2nd gear, I'm guessing that might not be because of the Tranny, but the gearbox? So should I just swap that while everything is out as well?

I plan on starting the procedure tomarrow, so any and all advice will be appreciated. I know this is a big job, but lack of $$ makes it about my only option. Besides, the '87 donor is white, so the paint is beautiful, and once I transfer the tinted glass etc, from mine it will be one HELL of a car, much cleaner than mine was, not that I cared much, since it was the power, pleasure and safety that got me.
