As Ari said, put some WD40 on the threads, and if it's not too cold there the plastic screw down ring will flex enough to spray some between the ring and the pump too, just put your favorite flat lever underneath the ring and flex to the middle, it should give just a bit, spray, move to another area and repeat.
The way I've managed to remove these on both my 900s and 9000s is using the longer set of motorcycle tire irons, they have a curved end and a straight end, I put the curved end against one of the blades of plastic on the screw ring - the fact that it curves means that the force is exerted at the junction of the ring and blade, and *not* only on the blade - it's much stronger at that point, then I put the other one about 180 degrees and cross them so that pulling and pushing with the opposite hands the levers work against each other, it's obvious once you do it wrong and then right (like tieing a square knot!). Just keep the pressure up and then move a couple of times and it will budge, and then come off.
ALSO - I use visegrips to remove the fuel connections from the pump, never broken one doing this - do the wd40 spray - then using the visegrip from *above* pointed down grip the portion of the fitting as close to the pump as possible *not* on the portion at a 90degree but just at or below, it keeps the force away from the 90 degree which is where it breaks, adjust the visegrips so that they just are snug and the *twist* them from above like a screw driver but do it a quarter left and a quarter turn right *as* you *tug* up away from the pump. Remember, stay away from the 90, you are tugging on the portion that is pressed into the pump, Never seen it fail.
