I've been having a starting problem that has been plaguing me for quite some time. My 89 9000T will not start when the temperature outside is above about 85 F. Car will start when jumped most of the time, but occasionally will not even with jumper cables. Early in the morning and late in the evening when the temperature is cooler, the car will start almost everytime. The battery does seem to not be fully charged, and I would suspect the alternator, but I went the entire winter without having any problems with it. Is there a notorious problem with these cars that is particularly related to the temperature outside? The odd thing is that it does not really matter what the engine temperature is. I've tried a number of things, but I still haven't been able to isolate the problem.
I'm not too much of a mechanic, but the lack of a shop in the area that has even heard of a SAAB and my college student wages have forced me to figure things out on my own. So, any advice would be helpful.
