Thank Ari, I am with you! I have a previously owned an '83 Jeep and am currently in a '98 Chevy Tahoe with 186K on it and still going very strong. I did all my own maintenance as well most as major/minor repairs. I truly enjoy working on my vehicles and keeping them in as good a shape as I can.

I had always assumed the bad rap on euro cars came from dealers... not only are they expensive but, at least in my experience, they are terrible mechanics. To compound the matter, the American throw away society doesn't lend itself to the maintaining of vehicles that is truly required for longevity.

Anyway all this to say, I think we are on the same wavelength!

Do you know of any particular trouble spots or quirks that I should be on the look out for in these models and years?

Where do you generally go for parts? Are there any good service manuals that you know of?
