You are at TDC IF, AND ONLY IF in addition to the yellow links as in the picture, there is ANOTHER yellow link on the crankshaft sprocket tooth which is in line with the groove on the crankshaft sprocket sleeve (this is not visible unless the pulley and oil pump are removed). Of course, sprocket/camshaft marks should also be lined up.
Another indication of TDC would be the zero degree line on the flywheel in alignment with the notch on the bell housing (your vehicle may not have an inspection hole that allows you to see this). If this is the case, rocking the crankshaft back and forth from your pictured position will make the screwdriver descend if you are at TDC, but not if the chain is one tooth off on the crankshaft sprocket (highly unlikely, but possible if aftermarket chain was installed one tooth off). I don't know if one tooth off is enough to cause piston/valve interference. Does anyone know?
The three coloured links are always used whenever a new (endless) timing chain is installed.
And yes, it takes many turns of the crankshaft to see what's in your picture. Next time I'll count sprocket teeth/chain links and do the math, as I'm curious myself.
