I'm probably not going to make any friends, but:
1. If you're going to work on your cars, it's very important to get a book. Any book! Saab manuals are expensive, but you probably can still get a British Haynes manual, which isn't great but does cover most of what we do. The they have wiring diagrams, but they aren't great.
2. Check with you local library, as many have online access to auto repair info. I live in Montgomery County, MD, and our library has access to a service that at least has full wiring diagrams and complete technical service bulletins. The service/repair info is weak, but with this and a Haynes manual, you can do quite a bit.
3. Get an inexpensive multi-meter from anybody. I think Harbor Freight still has one for $5, with built in small battery tester. I keep one in each of my 5 cars (only 2 Saabs).
4. I may be wrong, but even Ari and Yaofeng have service manual. It's hard to know as much as they do without some type written backup.
5. Even cars newer (with more electronics)than our Saabs are still fixable by guys like us, as it's been my experience that 90% of the things that go bad on cars are the things that have always gone bad.
Regards to all,
Marvin Stockman
