1995 9000CS 138,000 mi, only about 6k over last 2 years, short 5-15 mile errands- pretty much fully stock (K&M Air filter is about it).

Long timer lurker, with a few comments way back

Although I have loved all my SAAbs, I am at the point where any major service will mean the end of this one.

I have done a lot of searches and I know that some things changed in 95 from others who have had similar problems, Also searched Quasi and Townsend sites.

Last month, the upper radiator hose blew at the elbow (Failed from inside out)

Last week, the AC compressor bolts broke off, , serp belt slipped out and the car was driven about 1/4 ( Nanny told me it was really hard to steer on the way home.

There looked to be a slight amount of oil in the Coolant reservoir (Head gasket ?) But no sign of coolant in the oil.

The plugs all look a slight white, bot not any different that any other time I have changed them.

The Fan Never seems to come on, but everything in the engine is way too hot to touch- including the hoses.

I jumper the relays, middle to middle and the fan comes on at both speeds. The Copper tube resister that is snapped into the fan seems a bit corroded, and may actually be shorted, but is definitely not open (Meter is not that sensitive.)

I did a flush a,d installed the Barrs Leaks head gasket repair. I am not able to easily access the Thermostat, but don't they usually fail and stay open all of the Time? This one does not.

From what I read there is no sensor on the 95 9k for the fan switch, it is controlled by the ECU?

A really dumb question, but how would I know if it was my water pump that failed? I can't fine any fuses or relays for one.

Any Links or advice would be appreciated.

Doug
