That stuff just gets me too... Posted by PGAero [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Windshields... Who was the OE and what is ..., Todd89CSE, Sat, 20 Sep 2008 11:34:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I absolutely hate it when things aren't done right. I just got off the phone with them. I got the usual, "It's and OEM company, that's what we said we'd put in your car..." Blah blah blah. I just know that they over-charged the insurance company.
On top of the glass manufacturer issue, they left old bits of seal and glass in the car, and broke a couple of the small clips that hold the door sill in place. The guy I talked to said, "We don't touch that part of the car." I said, "You're lying to me, because I saw your techs standing on my door sills while they took out the old windshield." He told me that if I talk to him like he's a kid, he wouldn't listen. I told him (in big-person language, and very nicely) that I observed his technicians standing on my door sills and that I don't believe him when he tells me that his guys don't touch the doors sills of the car. He said I could email pictures of the broken parts and he'd get new clips. (Big deal.)
So I figure I don't have much recourse except through the insurance company. I'll let them know what happened, and check to see if they can confirm or deny that Lamishield is an OEM part for my car.
Seriously, the issue is not so much with the quality of glass (it's probably not much different than any other piece of glass, and there are no optical variations in it) but with the (seemingly) intentional deception that these guys (probably) carry on on a daily basis. I am probably the 1-in-100 that actually notice what they did. It absolutely frosts me too.
Anyway, I'll see what happens. Next time I'll know not to sign the "I accept everything you guys have done or ever will do to my car and hold you harmless" agreement until I actually am happy with what I got. (I should have known better anyway.)
