Shifter tricky to engage 1 and 2 Posted by dbreid [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have a question about shifter engagement in my 9000 Aero.
Some info:
1.) When the car is parked, off, the shifter aligns perfectly. I can shift smoothly into all gears.
2.) When I start out in the morning, sometimes 1st and second are "notchy" and I have to push a little harder to get the car into first and second. It is like there is a little resistance. Of course, once I shift in, it is fine, and runs fine.
3.) Things tend to improve after the car warms up. After driving for 20 minutes, the car shifts much better in the lower gears.
4.) I need to push the clutch ALL the way down to engage the shifter. The further I push, the easier it is.
My current thinking:
A.) The shifter is aligned fine.
B.) The clutch master cylinder system is likely in need of being bled? Or replaced?
Is my thinking correct? What are your thoughts?
