It used to be a car was pretty well shot at about 100K miles. But now most cars are pretty well made and almost anything will do 100K with only moderate maintenance. Do a good job on maintenance and repair and 200K is pretty reasonable. I ride in taxis and limos on some business trips and always look at the odometer. It's normal to see more than a quarter million miles on the clock. Sure, lots has been replaced, but the car still runs fine. The most I saw was a Lincoln Town Car with 400K+.
But people still think 6-digits on the odo mean the car will cost a lot to run. It can, but most costs over 100K are just routine maintenance that happens on intervals anyway (brakes, exhaust, tires, belts, hoses, etc.) and the "once or twice in the life of the car" things like water pumps, clutches, or even trannys. The older car costs less to register, insure and there are no payments. A cheap way to get around. Almost everything I replaced on my daughter's '95 9K when we got it at 138K was normal service & wear items (see above). Now I poke at it a couple times a year on normal stuff. No worries.
If you buy a good car, bring it up to a stable level of maintenance so you know the vehicle and can anticipate trouble and keep it in good shape, there's no reason not to get it to 200K or 250K, especially on a Saab. And yeah, on a number of other makes, too.
I like having people get into one of our cars and see that it's pretty nice and works well with a lot of miles on the clock.
