Unless you know you've got a good TCS safety valve, don't go chasing throttle body issues because they may not be the problem.
Generally, if the car STARTS in LHM and runs like crap, it's the safety valve, not the TB. TB issues generally present when you try to move the car. Generally.
As to calibration, the official line from Saab is that not calibrating can fry the new TB because everything's based on the unique properties of the previous TB. Not that people don't get away with it, but something to keep in mind. I would at least expect a greater likelihood of TCS problems if it's not properly calibrated at some point.
The car will not self-calibrate over time, no.
