...utterly destroy the current no-key lock cylinder by pulling its guts out while leaving its outer shell in place in the steering column, then pulling that shell.
I believe car thieves do this kind of thing with a dent-pulling slide hammer, screwed into the key slot with a fat very-tough-steel screw.
Since you have no key I assume you'll be replacing the cylinders all around with ones from another car, as I am doing in a similar situation. I DID get an ignition lock cylinder key with the car though.
I don't think there's a way to save the no-key cylinder unless you butcher the steering column housing instead.
The ignition cylinders DO have a unique key code number on them and if you do get it out whole you could pay bux and get a key.
Does the prior owner, or one before, possibly have a record of the VIN the locks DID come from, so you can just order keys? I'm writing that everywher I can think of in my car, in the owner manual, in pencil on the title, and will leave a note under the steering column bottom cover near the lock cylinder.
