ABS sensor test question

so, without doing the scan at the mechanic as suggested below, had a quick question on what i've done so far...
ANTI lock light is always on, and has been for a few weeks at least now.
measured resistance of two front senors, 1100 ohms on each of them.
replaced ABS ecu with a spare I had from my 92, anti-lock light is still on.
I took a spare sensor I had from the '92 (was good then), and connected it to each of the front connectors in the aquarium, and anti-lock light stayed on. I am assuming ecu just measures the resistance (again, 1100 ohms), and doesn't look for it's installation somehow?
I haven't tested the rears yet, couldn't find them and didn't rip up the carpeting yet. I'm getting a sinking feeling it's not my wheel sensors, and is something else tricky. Fuses looked ok, any relays I have to consider?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Aaron
