I put a set on my '96 CSE this summer along with the Sach Sport Chassis kit (the Aero suspension) from Genuine Saab and they transform the car. The 50% increase in sway bar diameter brings you a huge reduction in body roll and as a result the whole car is much more balanced and handling is far more neutral.
I find they don't make much of a difference in ride quality, except on some one wheel bumps. On my car the Aero springs and stiffer shocks/struts firm up the ride and the bars do their thing in corners. The ride is definitely firmner, but it's still pretty comfy, especially on a long ride.
One warning: At least on my '96, with the combination of new suspension and SAS bars I find myself going 10-15 mph faster than before on normal roads, which puts me well into ticket territory because the car is just more composed and stable.
And as samCS96 notes, you should **only** install them as a front and rear set.
I had my indy do the install while I was on vacation, and he said it was a bit of a pain, but I'd given him Quasi's write up which he said made it easier.
Good luck!
