As others have said, the headlight switch usually lasts the life of the car. But if it is bad, just pull it out and pull the plug off to replace it. You should be able to get one at a junkyard or on Ebay for about $10. My guess is that someone replaced the daytime running light fuse thinking it was missing. It only takes a minute to take the fuse out to see if that fixes the problem.
