whether you have DRLs activated or not. And if the DRL fuse is in its slot the lights will be on regardless of the position of the light switch on the dash.
To disable it, flip down the fuse panel access in the passenger footwell. On the right hand end there is a fuse labeled Daytime Running Lights or something similar. I think it's number 32 or something close to that. Pull that fuse and your lights should work only off the switch. Both my 9K are set this way.
