We just did that on one of my 1992 9000CDT autos. It would run and just quit, at the most inopportune places of course. Finally it quit hard. Sprayed carb cleaner into a vacuum line of the intake plenum, no fire. Swapped the DI with another, that one worked in the other car, and yet the known working one would not work in the CDTf
$200 later with a new CPS in it... live is good. Also, this CPS is only for the 1992 and 1993, so if you are going to get one you *may* be able to work a deal if they have it in stock. Won't work for the later years.
It is behind the Crank Pulley, hardest part was figuring out that you need to pull the bolts for the alternator, and put a pry bar on it, to get sufficient clearance to get the CPS connector to come out to the wheel side, and then use that technique to push the new CPS connector back to the engine side. There are some metal clips to deal with, they work well after you figure them out, DO reuse them to keep things away from each other. make sure you observe the routing of the cable, it has some harden plastic bends to it to keep it out of harms way, put it in the same way.
Starts up so fast it's like a brand new car!
