DI Cassette Test-a puzzling outcome - did the external

check with the cassette uninstalled but still connected to the plug, installed four plugs, grounded them to the negative side of battery, pulled out fuse #23 for five seconds then re-inserted it, ignition on - looking for spark....no spark, however with ignition then switched off, the familiar buzzing then occurred with the "cleaning" sparking on each plug observed for several seconds. Anyone familiar with the DI know why this could happen? Is there a separate circuit in it for regular ignition sparking than the cleaning cycle? ('97 Aero/manual/135K/replaced DI at least once before around 30K, trying to eliminate)....issue is engine cranking, fuel present in cylinders, but no start...still leaning toward new DI....thanks
