You can reset this code all you want, but it is going to continue to come back; evidently the crimp connectors oxidize over time and cause a fault during the self test. Some posters here have reported having luck with an add-on retrofit wiring harness that replaces the circuit to the sensors, but note that it's pricey, i.e. about $150 last time I checked. I would do this retrofit, but my background in electronics makes me ill when I think about paying $150 for a few pieces of wire with connectors on the ends - obviously SAAB knew that there is a problem, developed a solution, but made it cost-prohibitive. I started looking for the connectors, found that the one for the crash sensor is available from Volvo-Penta for marine engines, but gave up on the other end - doesn't seem to be in the Digi-Key catalog.

What's special about these cars is their age and scarcity. All 1996+ cars are required to conform to the OBD-II (On Board Diagnostics II) interface, so cheap tools are available. Unfortunately, there are far fewer SAABs than VW/Audis, so no one has developed a cool free tool like the VAGCOM, which I have and use on my other car.
