coolant leak, new radiator needed?

My '95 9000 CSE Turbo has only 68,000 miles and about a year ago the "check radiator" light kept coming on. The coolant level was down to almost the 1/2 way mark, so antifreeze was put in. About 11 months later, the light went on again (in October of 2008) and agian it was at the half way mark so more antifreeze was put in again. Then just yesterday, the light came on again (almost 4 months later) and the level was below the half way mark so more fluids was put in again. I went to a mechanic today and he said I need a new radiator. I didn't ask for details about where he saw the leak but that was his advice, new radiator.
Is there any way to get a better diagnosis or avoid getting a new radiator? What is the Bars Leak and should that be tried first? I'm getting rid of this car in less than a year and don't want to put more money into it if I can avoid it! Thanks!!!
