Thanks to both of you. I still would like to know if anyone has used an early style knob on a late style stick. Did the splines change? I don't really see a straight answer in the posts I've searched through. I see that in EPC one number is made obsolete sometime in 92 and they started gluing them on around that time. I have a 91 too, so maybe I can just "give 'er a try" unless I hear some more words of wisdom.
