Spring is in IGNITION SWITCH

Peter, you DO NOT need the lock cylinder and key. The return-spring action is inside the electrical part, the ignition switch.
It's a point of weakness. If you twist the key all the way and keep twisting, it shears off the tip of a pot-metal piece against which the end of the spring pushes. It can't be fixed unless you know a jewelry maker who does investment casting and wants to make you another piece out of zinc.
When I did this my local dealership had the switch in stock and pulled one from the shelf without consulting the computer. Broken ones are that common.
