Avispex, if you like to keep your power up, I would shift closer to 3000. That's where I prefer to shift, anyway. 1500 rpm is WAAAY too low in my opinion - this isn't a diesel truck, it's a turbocharged Saab, and it likes to be driven.
As for the stereo system, if it doesn't read "CODE," then you will have to leave it powered on for a while. What happens with the system is that it expects a security code (four digits) - if you put the wrong one in three times, the stereo will lock you out and you'll have to leave it powered on for 90 minutes before it'll read "CODE" again and allow you to enter the stereo code. The radio will not ask for the code again unless its power supply is interrupted (read: dead or disconnected battery).
Really, though, you shouldn't need to leave it plugged into a battery charger, the car's battery will not expend itself in 90 minutes. I had this problem a year back and I just left the key to "accessory" in the ignition to allow it to reset and had no problem. The code should be listed on that card that was provided.
Finally, many 9000s came with a stock wood dash kit. My suggestion would be to just get a used wood dash overlay ($100 on "the auction site" or from a trusty board member). My Aero came with one so I've never had to install it, but it shouldn't be too difficult.
A possible suggestion for the manual: if you have any pick-and-pull junkyards (or even regular junkyards) near you, and you're on the East Coast, there's bound to be a 9000 with a manual inside of it. Check the glovebox. Nobody ever takes them out. I'm sure $5 will do the trick.
