Not sure if this is the first time you've used synthetic after a lifetime of dino oil, but very often leaks will appear when using synthetic, after no leaks before. When this happened to me I switched back to dino to good effect.

On the other hand, Saab practically designed these engines to constantly seep, drip, ooze or spew oil. Perhaps it was the engineers' protest at having to put oil in a separate container when it should just be mixed with the gasoline like the old two-strokes, by Thor!

There's also a common tendency for the lower A/C bracket bolt to strip its threads in the head, and then to "hammer" lightly at idle. This hammering seems to be an effective destructor of the sealant bond between the timing cover and head and/or block, resulting in a nice slimy oily mess down the timing cover. Of course, the bond could just give up all on its own too.

I've never had good luck getting the anaerobic sealant to work on the timing cover or oil pan, for some reason. Probably some trick to it that I missed, I dunno. Maybe you're experiencing the same. When you did the timing cover, did you remove the head first? If not, you almost certainly compromised the head gasket and that may be your leak.

Another thing to check is your PCV check valve if you have a turbo. If this is bad, a spooling turbo is pressurizing your crankcase with attendant oil leaks as a result. These will probably slow greatly if you fix the check valve, although they probably won't go away altogether.

It could be the head gasket giving up on its own, yes, or the head bolts needing a retorque, but before you try anything with the head bolts I'd go ahead and replace the valve cover gasket as your first step, since that's a very common leak.

But I have learned to just leave oil leaks alone as long as they're not creating a mess on the ground. I haven't had a 9000 yet that failed to leak oil someplace, but rarely does it constitute a major problem. The effort to fix a leak is very often wasted on these engines.
