You're probably doing this... but...
I JUST changed the rear brakes (calipers too) on my 92 9000S and it went perfectly. So... I'm not sure why you're having trouble...
My question/suggestion is to make sure that you are closing the bleeding nipple BEFORE you let the brake pedal up. In other words, you need 2 people, one at the pedal, on at the caliper. Before the pedal is pushed down, open the bleeder. When the pedal is on the floor, then, close up the bleeder... then let the pedal up. In other words, the bleeder on the caliper should only be open on the "down pedal" stroke, then closed before the pedal goes back up.
Sounds to me like you're not doing this... and that each time you let the pedal up, you're sucking a whole bunch of air back in.
If you're doing this the "right" way, you should be all set in one or two pedal pushes.
Or maybe something else is wrong? If your brake lines are rusty, maybe you "tweaked" them while you were working and now they're leaking?
