I bought $5 worth of cork gasket and made an oil pan gasket. I'll let you all know if it starts leaking. I had one heck-of-a-time getting the pan back off after using silicone (blue permatex brand) to put the pan on the first go-round. I thought I was going to break the little aluminum tits on the pan, but it finally came loose.

I didn't use anything other than my dry cork gasket when I put it back together. I did squirt some brake cleaner up in the oil pump hole, but that only would delay the oil for a couple minutes.

We'll know in a couple days if it works.

I'll use the loctite ($11 a tube) when I put my other saab motor back together. It's all the way down to the block. I'll use it on the timing chain cover, the oil filter thingy, the oil pan, and whatever else needs a gasket. I'm pulling my cams tomorrow to take the head to a machine shop to ensure after 160K that it's still perfectly flat. Then it'll be time to re-seat the valves and put the whole thing back together.
