I have no idea what condition that car is in, but I can tell you my Aero experience. I bought a 1993 9000 Aero about 2 years ago. 5 speed with TCS. Car was in nice, 2 owner shape. Never left California, and had about 170K on it. Many of the nasty things had been done (clutch slave, some TCS repairs, etc), and it had good records and an older, responsible owner. The car was not beaten, and all the electrics worked. Sunroof, windows, climate control, seats, heaters, etc. Literally everything.
I am a picky owner, and do all my own work, but since then, I have put about 20K on the car (I drive it daily, have done long trips, etc), and have replaced:
Head gasket (wasn't blown, but I noticed a little sludge in the coolant, so I did it.
Timing chain, balance chain
All motor mounts
Shifter coupling (probably not necessary)
one wheel bearing
Complete service of A/C (drier, compressor etc). A/C just wasn't cutting it, and now it could make ice cubes in the vents. :)
New filters all around
New rotors and pads (more "while I was in there" stuff)
Replaced serp belt (did headgasket, so might as well)
New serp shock
New alternator. This one was TOTALLY voluntary. The old one was fine, but with the head off, I saw what a HUGE PITA it was gonna be if that thing ever dies, so I just bought a new one and did it while the head was off....
New DI cassette (this was one of the few actual "failures" I had)
New radiator fan switch (only had high)
A few miscellaneous bulbs for the interior, etc.
One headlight wiper motor shaft (bent original)
New tires/alignment
New rear exhaust hanger
New exhaust manifold studs (headgasket related)
I think that is the full list.
Now, will your be different? Definitely. Most of that was not "required" and because I do all my own work, the labor was all free. I am meticulous about the little stuff. I want every bulb working. I want the car to track and ride perfect. I want no strange sounds. Etc. With the exception of the DI cassette, I could probably just have continued driving it as it was.
But these cars seem to benefit from staying on top of maintenance, as opposed to be reactionary.
The advice about having it all checked out by a pro is excellent.
