cold weather CEL - update. Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: cold weather CEL question...., vtsnaab ![]() ![]() |
Hi Folks and thanks for the helpful and informative replies !
Subject-wise here are the various things going and gone on since my initial posting and a recent visit to my mechanic:
1.
My battery was right at the best place to do it so I started it on the recently purchased desulphator and it is already showing measurable results on the cooler mornings.
2.
The NTC (coolant temp.) sensor has been replaced.
3.
The AIC valve has been removed/tested/cleaned/re-installed.
4.
The plugs have been replaced with brand new ones, properly gapped.
The car is running noticably more smoothly, idling better, and the CEL light went out with no further action on my part right after repairs were done and I was driving back from there.
I believe that covers all the possible bases ?!
It is 'against my religion' to not take care of run-ability problems ASAP and I am blessed with a marvelous, skilled, honest and helpful mechanic.
(And what WOULD we all do without this wonderful community anyhow ?)
Some of the things I could obviously have done myself in the driveway, but he had the NTC sensor on hand - and his garage is well lit and heated where my driveway is just a driveway...
I will watch for CEL flashes though and ask about decoding them if that is possible still.
Happy Holidays to All !!!
