Wife's Audi A4 was purchased new, maintained better than by the book, regular oil changes, etc. Most procedures that I have seen suggest replacing all of the front seals (crankshaft and camshafts) when doing the timing belt; unfortunately needed to do an emergency TB change due to a dead thermostat in January, seals were not done, started leaking profusely at less than 100,000 miles. My previous Audis were purchased used, so I can't vouch for their maintenance before I owned them.
My friend's Benz, also purchased new and maintained exactly by the book (i.e. long oil change intervals), started leaking before that.
