I was bothered with the temperature gauge working intermittently. I noticed that simply disconnecting an reconnecting would restore it but only for a day or two. Finally, I scraped the male parts with a knife and then used a thin metal nail file that I had ground down to fit into the female parts to clean them. The gauge has been working ever since.
