It's been a while since I've done this, but there are definitely timing marks on the flywheel that you can see through the access hole in the bellhousing (there might be a black plastic cover). Just align the "0" with the two metals tabs cast into the bellhousing. Your marks on the cam and bearing cap should now line up (more or less). You can also use marks cast into the timing gears as a reference too. They should be pointing up, perpendicular to the head.
Some people zip tie the gears to the chain to ensure everything stays the same, and I use a bungee to hook the chain to the hood to keep it in place up on the crank, but as long as you get everything lined up before you start then you'll be able to get it back together fine.
This is a big job, so please be aware of what you're getting yourself into before you start.
