Thank you for the great thread! I had a similar experience with my 97' 9000CSE this weekend: it was running fine one day and the next the boost would only go to a basic (limp home) level. All systems checked out fine, so I was a bit perplexed. Driving with the windows down I could hear an uncontrolled rush of boost escaping from in the engine bay. A quick visual check confirmed that pressure in the intake manifold had blown the brass fitting completely out.
I refitted it by: 1) cleaning it and manifold hole throughly with brake cleaner and 600 grit sandpaper; 2) coating with gasket maker, 3) using a clamp to press it in and secure it while I used a punch hammer and needle nose pliers to expand out the lip exposed inside the manifold. 15 minutes later, good as new! Thanks again.
