And I have a Hyd Engine hoist for that exact purpose.
I find that if only after the transbox, rather than needing to do engine repairs as well, I much prefer dropping the trans despite the retarded Starter mounts and having to undo the steering rack and catalytic... it's less work.
Reinstalling the engine is More work and there is real possibility of damaging paintwork when positioning the thing over and into the engine bay. It's a massive clumsy lump. In truth neither way is much fun.
Being a pro mechanic wouldn't be my choice of a way to spend a life :-)
Although I'm not understanding exactly why you suspect the Slave. More likely the master cyl(if Scantech) is a possible, it's of lower quality than the Sacntech slave. Did you dissasemble the Slave prior to install.. hopefully Not :-) The slave is a ridiculously simple device.
Not much to go wrong besides bore wear / O ring seal wearout or a badly installed O ring, which can only come out of it's groove (if incompetently installed /never fully seated) in which case it would be sheared off on the 3rd or 8th piston travel cycle. Large unambiguous leak then, I would expect. Easy enough to try the thing a few more times... If it's the ring then it won't last very long at all, answering your 'slave' question neatly
G'luck mate.
