what is wrong with my AC??

I sure can use some help with my AC here is AZ. I have a 97 Aero that has had inconsistent AC operation: it blows cold for a bit then it will cycle off and not come on again resulting in warm moist air being blown. Low press side shows ~30psi Hi pressure side shows ~240psi. I am getting 12 V at the compressor; when the compressor is engaged the sight glass is clear. I replaced the o-rings at the x-pan valve and there is no refrigerant dye showing up anywhere so I believe I have a good closed system. But I do not know why I get intermittent AC operation. I looked through the archives here and read some folks who had similar experiences and they replaced the "anti frost switch." What and where is that in my 97' Aero? How do I replace it, do I need to evacuate the system? Does this sound like the solution to my AC woes?
I appreciate any help and suggested next steps.
Thanks,
Scott
