Bob is correct in not to hammer on the front axle. I once replace a whole axle on my 92/900s and the passenger side wasn't bugging, so I hammered on it. Now I have to replace the axle carrier bearing. I should have used a little heat, just enough to loosen the loctite that was on the threaded axle end first.
