I'm canvassing my memory but offhand I don't recall anyone having undertaken this project, although anything's possible!
I'm ashamed to admit I have little knowledge of the particulars of the manual system, but as a guess, I think the ACC system employs a number of stepper motors, sensors, etc., which would not be present in the manual system. In addition, the fan speed resistor in the manual system is different than the ACC version and would probably require replacement of the blower housing, a big job.
All in all, I think the time and effort to do the conversion would be uneconomical and possibly infeasible. Far better to find a replacement ACC unit off the usual internet sources. The ACC systems generally are pretty reliable, except when they're not.
What problems exactly are you having with yours?
